The following is a good example of a cover letter sample:
Trabzon, 29th October 2012 To whom it may concern, I am writing in response to your advertisement in The Guardian posted on 29th of October 2012, regarding the post of year 1 teacher. I am applying for this job, because I think my future lies in teaching. Besides, I believe I have the necessary skills that are required for the job. Please find enclosed my CV summarizing my education, qualifications and experience.
As you can read in my CV, I have had plenty of work experience through the years. I started working at a very young age. The places where I have worked have had an immense effect on the way I work with other people. The supermarket and callcentre job were simple jobs, but both required to be friendly to customers, deal with different kinds of problems and also to work fast at the same time. Teamwork was a very important aspect in these jobs. I have learnt that everything one person does, effects other people they work with, so you have to work well and in coherence to make sure the job is done right. The teamwork, problem solving and getting along with students is also important in education and I believe I meet these qualifications. I first became interested in teaching at the language school where I am currently working. My teaching experiences started with teaching Dutch to adults in 2009. One year later I started teaching English to children and teenagers. Teaching has become one of the most pleasant things in my life. It is fantastic to see how children develop and it is also great to know you, as a teacher, have a huge impact on their lives. So it is not only the language that you teach, but also the little facts about life, which can be influential as they grow to become adults. Working at TEOL has been an excellent experience for me, as I have dealt with teaching different groups of ages. I have not only had a position as a teacher at this company, but I have also worked as a guiding teacher, wich has given me the opportunity to see the different problems which children have to deal with during their education. The problems were not always school related; sometimes, solving personal problems was also required. Working as a guiding teacher means you follow the developement of each and every student in the school and take action whenever necessary (for example when you see the student’s progress is not what it should be, you can make a temporary individual private lesson program and make sure the student gets on track). Besides the guiding, I have also worked as an assistant education koordinator, which means you deal with the systematic side of the world of education. Making plans, scedules, appointing teachers to different classes were some of the things I dealt with. This is a whole different part of education, which is very important to make sure everything works smoothly and according to plan. As you can see; I have a lot of working experience. Not only teaching experience, but also experience in other jobs related to education. I now feel that my future lies in this field, and it is for this reason that I am applying for the post you have advertised.
I would be available to come for an interview at any time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Leyla Döner Düğdü
